Welcome to Chronically Vulnerable!
Hello, new friend! I’m Lora, author of Chronically Vulnerable!
I started this Substack to share my experience with chronic illness and disability. My writing sometimes includes undertones/topics around trauma (never anything explicit—TW if it goes there) and relationships. While I often directly speak of yoga and relate topics to yoga philosophy, I am mostly indirect and it shows up in my thought process versus vomiting yoga all over the place.
While all forms of yoga have changed my life profoundly, I will never tout it as a cure for illness or disability. Yogic philosophy, meditation, and breathwork are the tools I use most often these days and I’d have lost my mind without them as my health has declined. These days, I practice chair yoga and it is a beautiful gift that supports my soul and connection to my body in a positive manner—this helps me combat the moments of feeling that my body is working against me and is creating body trust again!
Anyway, I can’t thank you enough for popping in! It means the world to me that you believe in not only my experience but the experience of all disabled people and persons with invisible illnesses. As Andrea Gibson’s therapist says, “Shame can’t live in the light”. Together, we can empower others in their human experience by sharing vulnerably, listening with our whole hearts, and believing one another.
Please subscribe if my writing makes you feel something, share with a friend you think my posts can help, and don’t be a stranger in the comments!
P.S. I am co-facilitating a Chronic Illness and Disability Book Club! If you want to join, drop a comment on any of my posts or notes. The link to our Fable Book Club will be here soon!
